“We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next 10”

Bill Gates

The global economy has had a remarkably long period of growth and during that time, there has been no need to look hard at how we are planning & organising. In parallel, technology has evolved and customers along with it. In the last 10 years, consumers are outstripping large companies in technology adoption. Companies are faced with the need to change: change big and change rapidly

.”only 7 percent of the executives said their organization is extremely open to change, with another 35 percent saying their organization is somewhat open to change”

Global survey by Harvard Business Review Analytic Services

This has led to organisations working with methods and underlying beliefs that are not suited for the current choppy waters of the economic environment. As this website launches in March 2020, we are seeing uncertainty across the globe with the spread of COVID-19, uncertainty in government policies across the globe and rapidly changing consumer attitudes.

Hence, the Adaptive Project. The purpose of this project is to capture relevant concepts and methods that will allow companies to best adapt to a new future. A future where they can be more purposeful and create a better tomorrow for all stakeholders. The next stage will be to propagate appropriate ideas into industry. This website, is the storehouse for these ideas. It’s also workshop to shape them.

Thought pieces

The Adaptive Project blog contains exploratory thought pieces based on direct observation. It also has commentary on other published thinking on the topic, both new and old.
